Tata launched the JTP Tigor program in India at Rs 7.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is a compact sedan and a brother of Tiago JTP. Presented for the first time at Auto Expo 2018, the JTP Tigor takes up the essence of the Tigor stock but has been adjusted by Coimbatore-based auto tuners, Jayem Auto, under a JV called JSTV. We piloted the JTP Tigor and you can read about it here.
The exterior appearance, compared to the standard car, is modified thanks to sports bumpers, large 15-inch alloys, air vents on the hood and of course JTP badges. red color at the front and back. Inside, it's the upscale Tigor, but with red accents on the vent panels and on the floor mats. In addition, you also have aluminum pedals and two-tone seats with JTP seams in the folders. The P in JTP (Jayem Tata's performance) is a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine developing 112 hp. / 138 Nm. This engine is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The JTP Tigor is a niche vehicle because its high-end model is almost cheaper than the equivalent JTP model. This puts the Tigor JTP in competition with groups such as the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and the Maruti Baleno RS, two high-end sedans sporting intentions. On this theme, you can also check the mid-level versions of the Hyundai Elite i20 and the Honda Jazz.
At this price, you can also use mid-size versions of all compact SUVs such as the Honda WR-V, the Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon. We would also like to believe that the arrival of the Tigor JTP and the Tiago JTP is an Indian moment for the Volkswagen Golf GTi of India – Affordable performances but with a daily use and not losing in any way the practical side offered by the fellow fellows.
