The actress Tanuja, 75, "very good" after surgery, will be hospitalized for a week

Actress Tanuja, aged 75, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after she complained of abdominal pain. She was operated on for diverticulitis, reported Thursday the IANS news agency. A hospital official told IANS that after his operation, the state of the actress was stable and that she was well after the operation. Tanuja should remain under medical supervision at the Lilavati hospital for a week. Tanuja was hospitalized Tuesday night and her daughter Kajol, an actress, was seen all evening. Before that, Kajol was spotted meeting visitors at Devgn Residence, who were attending the last sacraments of his father-in-law – the father of the late Ajay Devgn, Veeru Devgan.

Previously, very few details about Tanuja's health status were available. A hospital official told IANS that Tanuja had been admitted "with abdominal pain". On Wednesday night, hospital officials revealed that she had been diagnosed with diverticulitis and that she should undergo an operation.

The 75-year-old actress is best known for her work in Bollywood as well as for her role in several Bengali films. She was married to famous director Shomu Mukherjee and they had two daughters, Kajol and Tanishaa, also an actress.
