HIGHLIGHTS
- 3D rendering shows double-sided and hinge-like surface book
- The Galaxy F should be endowed with a 7-inch AMOLED screen and one-inch cover cover
- It will work on the all-new interface of a user interface designed by Samsung
Samsung unveiled its first fully collapsible smartphone with an Infinity Flex display last week at the developer conference. But it was only a partial revelation, as participants were only allowed to see the display when the rest of the design was hidden. Since then, we have seen some conceptual renderings and videos that imagine what the final product will look like. LetsGoDitigal has joined the list and released new 3D renderings of the foldable smartphone this week to feed our imagination as we await its launch.
The 3D renderings published by LetsGoDitigal are based on patented designs rather than CAD design. It reveals the device in its folded and unfolded form. Once unfolded, the rendering creates a large 7 inch AMOLED screen that extends from one edge to the other. The upper bezel seems thicker to accommodate cameras and possibly other sensors. The Infinity Flex Display folds like a flapper, but does not bend completely flat thanks to a hinge similar to a book.
Once folded, the rendering displays a smaller AMOLED screen on the shell that will serve as a smartphone screen. It is surrounded by many boxes, which makes it similar to what Samsung presented in demonstration last week. That said, the final version of Samsung could reduce the borders everywhere to make it more current. A concept video from Concept Creator recently imagined that the display of the cover had to have very thin frames all around, which is much more attractive.
Samsung plans to launch the foldable phone, tentatively called Galaxy F, in March following the Galaxy S10. It will work on the new One UI, which offers a minimalist interface with the ability to run three applications simultaneously. Recent reports also claim that the Galaxy F will cost 2 million won (about 1.28,000 rupees). DJ Koh, head of mobile phone at Samsung, said the company was planning to manufacture at least 1 million units of this foldable phone during its initial phase.
