Uber Eats Partners with Cafe Coffee Day to Create India's Largest Virtual Restaurant Network

NEW DELHI: Uber Eats Friday announced that it had partnered with Coffee Coffee Day (CCD) to launch the largest network of Indian virtual restaurants, which will enable the unit to Uber food distribution to compete aggressively with rivals FoodPanda, Swiggy and Zomato. As part of this partnership, Uber Eats will provide CCD with data, badysis and information on cooking and popular kitchens.

This will allow both entities to launch menu offers based on ever-changing consumer trends for single-serve "virtual restaurants" (VRs).

The first of these brands is expected to be launched in November in 10 CCD cafés in Bengaluru, then expanded to more than 1,700 CCD outlets nationwide.

Virtual restaurants are exclusively digital restaurants that allow business owners to explore new culinary options and test them nimbly with their customers.

"We hope to offer our Indian restaurant partners greater growth opportunities by using the experience and lessons learned from the virtual restaurant space in our international restaurants. order and eat their favorite daily meals at the click of a mouse, "Jason Droege, vice president of UberEverything at Uber Technologies, told reporters here.

He added that Uber Eats was working with a number of institutions around the world for virtual restaurants. These include MIA Wings (VR brand for Venezia Pizza in Miami), Le Pita Bar (for La Fabrique Sucree in Quebec City) and Co5 (for Co Nam in San Francisco).

Companies declined to comment on the financial details of the partnership.

Asked about the partnership, CCD chief executive Venu Madhav said, "The idea is to create brands specifically for Uber Eats, which would be different from the coffee menu, and we are in the process of launching it. "

The CCD will launch its first brand by the first week of November and there will be several brands as needed, which will be taken into account, he added.

India is one of the fastest growing markets for Uber's food distribution platform. Launched 18 months ago in India, the food delivery service is available in 37 Indian cities, compared to 31 cities where it operates.
