Indian equities ended down on Monday, penalized by profit taking in the heavyweights of the market, as confidence in the world slid on political developments and factory surveys.

The Senbad closed down 0.45% to 35,264.41 and the broader NSE Nifty ended down 0.53% at 10,657.30. The HDFC bank was the main drag on the NSE index, finishing down 1.7%, Reuters reported.
