DaaS for Windows is not new. Citrix and VMware have made a living for years. Microsoft has been providing Remote Desktop Services, formerly known as Terminal Services, for centuries.
Microsoft Managed Desktop is a new take. It avoids the latency problem of old Windows DaaS offers by keeping most of the operating system on your PC.
But you will no longer be in charge of your Windows PC. Instead, it will be automatically provisioned and corrected for you by Microsoft.
Unless you've been shocked, you know that IT is not happy with Microsoft's major updates twice a year for Windows 10. Let's call it the way it is. These are not upgrades or updates; these are service patches (SPs).
Woody Leonhard of Computerworld even recommended that unless you were stuck with the April update, you disable the automatic update. He is right to do it.
Windows patcher was still random, but with Windows 10, you're more likely to have problems you correct that you are to avoid problems. And is not it a good note?

I am not satisfied with this development. I am old enough to remember the PC revolution. We've gone from relying on mainframes and Unix enclosures to computing power to have real power on our desktops. It was liberating.
Now, Microsoft, who helped lead this revolution, is trying to bring us back to this old model of centralized control.
Forget that noise. If Microsoft continues on this course, soon your only real choices if you really want a "desktop" operating system will be Linux and macOS. Oh, you will always have "Windows". But Windows as your office "personal"? This will be the story
