Xiaomi Mi A1, the only smartphone based on Android One of the Chinese phone maker, has finally started receiving its Android 8.1 Oreo software update, and it includes the June Android security patch. While the update is initiated by OTA (Over-the-Air), users can also flash the Fastboot ROM. Notably, the update is underway with a known bug, which clears the phone's SMS history. However, users can easily avoid the problem by using a third-party SMS backup application. The file size of the update is estimated at about 1.2 GB.
The update is already underway in India and the Philippines, according to several users in these countries. As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi A1 was launched in September 2017 with Android 7.1 Nougat, with the phone receiving an Android 8.0 Oreo update in January of this year. Part of Google's Android One program, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is guaranteed to get important Android updates up to two years after launch. We can expect the smartphone to receive the next update from Android P shortly after its stable release this year.

With the update, the screen displays a hue when the power menu is open, the Settings / System UI theme fits the color of the screen background, the audio quality is better and the launcher receives an update. To download and install the OTA, go to Settings> About Phone> System Updates . You should automatically get the update; if not, click Check for Updates . If, despite this, no OTA update is available, users can update their Google Play Services infrastructure to version v2.2.09 or later, from here. You can also download the Fastboot ROM with a file size of about 1.2 GB, but completely erases the smartphone – a backup will be necessary. This ROM will also require an unlocked bootloader.
