CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Indians could no longer wait for Carlos Gonzalez to help them pull their funk offensive along the season.
The veteran was named before Wednesday's game against Oakland. Gonzalez, who signed a contract with the minor leagues during spring training, beat .210 with two innings and seven runs in 30 games.
Manager Terry Francona praised Gonzalez's professionalism at the clubhouse, but stressed that the decision was made in terms of results.
