Diabetes cases in Malaysia The highest in Asia

[KUCHING] Malaysia has the highest rates of diabetes in Asia and one of the highest in the world. According to the Executive Chairman of the National Institute of Diabetes (NADI), Dr. Mustafa Embong, the position of Malaysia is almost equivalent to that of Saudi Arabia.

As stated Named Tuesday (24/7), Mustafa says about 2.5 million adults aged 18 and over in Malaysia have diabetes. Even according to NADI records, statistics show that nearly half of Malaysians do not know that they have diabetes.

"Most people with type 2 diabetes have no symptoms until you have heart attacks, strokes, blindness and amputations. ", he said.
