The fiance of Jamal Khashoggi, a murdered Saudi journalist, rejected the invitation of US President Donald Trump to visit the White House because he thought Trump was not sincere in his investigation into the murder.
Hatice Cengiz, a Turkish woman who was to marry Khashoggi, told Turkish television that she believed that the invitation was intended to influence the American public.
The United States will hold a general election in less than two weeks.
Jamal Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul three weeks ago and Riyadh denied the involvement of the royal family and said the perpetrators were "wild agents".
Saudi Arabia initially said it was unaware of the journalist's fate, but their statements then changed and the Saudi prosecutor recently described the incident as a carefully planned killing.
Trump said he was "dissatisfied" with Saudi statements, but despite the possibility of imposing sanctions, he also stressed the importance of relations between the two countries.
President Trump also said "that there was a possibility," Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman knew nothing of the murder.
Khashoggi was a virulent critic of the Crown Prince, the de facto ruler of the Royal State.
Meanwhile, Turkey has said it wants to extradite 18 Saudis who were arrested in Riyadh as a result of the murder.
Turkish prosecutors who prepared the extradition requests have officially charged them with "premeditated murder in a horrible manner or under torture".
Turkey and Saudi Arabia have apparently not concluded any extradition agreements.
CIA Director Gina Haspel also gave briefingor information addressed to Donald Trump regarding the case, after the return of the CIA team from Turkey.
What does Khashoggi's fiancé say?
In the Friday TV interview, Hatice Cengiz recounted in tears what happened the day her fiancé disappeared. He added that if he suspected that "the Saudi authorities were planning a plot" to kill Khashoggi, he would never let his partner go to the consulate.
"I ask that all those involved in these atrocities, from the highest to the lowest, be judged and punished," he told Haberturk.
Hatice Cengiz, Khashoggi's fiancée, said that he had not yet been contacted by any Saudi officials, but insisted that he would not be able to travel to Saudi Arabia to attend funeral if the body of the late Khashoggi was finally found.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked Riyadh to recognize who ordered the killing and where his body was.
Meanwhile, Salah Khashoggi, the eldest son of a journalist living in America, had arrived in the United States from Saudi Arabia on Thursday with his family.
The Saudi-American double family had previously been banned from leaving Saudi Arabia because of his father's criticism of the country's leaders.
