Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – At least four people were killed in Saturday morning shootings at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, USA, according to local police: CNN.
"The perpetrators immediately went to the police and were taken to Mercy Hospital," said Curt Conrad, a staff member of Corey O 'Connor, a city council member.
A police officer said CNN at least 12 people were killed in the incident.
Three policemen were shot dead, said a police officer at an impromptu press conference. It is still unclear whether the three illegal policemen were victims of a shootings in the synagogue.
"There are victims," said Allegheny Regional Director Rich Fitzgerald.
The Pittsburgh Police Officer, Jason Lando, had previously stated that there had been several casualties. Officers were deployed to the scene shortly after receiving a report on the shootings in the synagogue called the Tree of Life.
"It is highly recommended that residents of the communities around the Tree of Life synagogue stay in their homes and take refuge.Do not leave home now.The situation is not safe," Lando said.
Fred Rabner, a member of the synagogue, said that everyone in the community phoned to make sure their loved ones were okay.
"Everyone was shaken and angry," said Rabner. "It's horrible." Terrible.
On its website, the Synagogue of the Tree of Life says that it eclipses conservative Jewish congregations. This synagogue is located on Squirrel Hill, a historic Jewish neighborhood.
US President Donald Trump said he was monitoring the situation in Pittsburgh and that law enforcement was ongoing.
"Residents in the Squirrel Hill area need to be protected, there seems to be a number of casualties, be alert to shots, God bless us all," Trump said.
The governor of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, on his Twitter account, said the situation in Squirrel Hill was serious. (Wis)
