IRAQ – At least 12 people were killed in an explosion that occurred in several districts of Iraq on Sunday night (4/11) local time.

Postponed by AFP on Monday (5/11), the explosion in Baghdad, for example, killed 6 people, partly civilians. Then, several other people were injured according to the police and the medical team.

At the Aden roundabout, in northern Baghdad, a bomb exploded in a bus stop. Two civilians were killed and six others wounded.

The third explosion then took place in the Tarmiyah district, which was at the time a military convoy. As a result of the explosion, one soldier was killed and two others wounded.

In southwestern Al-Sahha, a bomb mounted under the car exploded and killed a government employee. Then, in the eastern district of Sadr City, two people were killed and four wounded in two explosions in a conservative Shiite neighborhood.

Two other explosions also occurred in buses in another part of Baghdad in the north-east of the country, injuring seven people.

But to date, no one has claimed responsibility for any of the explosions.

Sadr City is a former stronghold of the Mahdi Army, which has fought against US forces and has been accused of murdering thousands of Sunni Muslims. The militia was led by the Shiite clan Moqtada Sadr, whose political alliance won the parliamentary elections this year. (sorting)
