FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The honorary doctorate or honoris causa (DrHC) of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, will increase. It is the Fujian Normal University in the People's Republic of China (PRC) which will give the title of DrHC to the PDI-P general president on Monday (5/11).

IDP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto revealed that Megawati would receive the DrHC Diploma in Diplomacy. In addition, the character born on January 23, 1947 will deliver a scientific speech in front of the university community of Fujian Normal University and the ambbadador of Indonesia in the People's Republic of China, Djauhari Oratmangun.

"We are certainly happy, proud and grateful, as Ms. Megawati Soekarnoputri will receive an honorary degree in Economic Diplomacy from Fujian Normal University, one of China's most prestigious universities," Hasto said in a press release ( 4/11).

Hasto detailed, before Megawati received seven honorary doctorates. Notably from the Waseda University of Tokyo in Japan (2001), State Institute of International Relations of Moscow in Russia (2003), Korea Maritime and Oceanic University in South Korea (2015), Padjadjaran University of Bandung (2016), Padang State University (2017), Mokpo National University (2017), as well as the Institute of National Administration (2018).

"This honorary degree from Fujian Normal University will be the eighth Megawati title for HC," said Hasto.

Hasto added that Megawati would deliver a scientific speech on relations between the Republic of Indonesia and China. "The two countries have historical ties, especially in anticipation of the implementation of the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference when Bung Karno invited the People's Republic of China to open," Hasto said.

In addition, Megawati is due to travel to Seoul, South Korea, to become one of the keynote speakers at the KOR-ASIA forum on Wednesday (11/07). "Ms. Megawati's presence recalled her role, which had actively promoted peace on the Korean peninsula," Hasto concluded. (Jpg / jpnn)
