BNP Paribas cooperates with Tanamduit to broaden its investor base

This partnership makes it possible to increase the number of distribution channels for mutual funds managed by BNP Paribas IP.

Vivian Secakusuma, President of BNP Paribas IP, said the addition of the distribution channel aims to facilitate financial access for each community and expand the investor base itself.

He also said, despite growing growth, the number of mutual fund investors in Indonesia is still relatively small. As of June 2018, the number of mutual fund investors in the country reached 777,851 people. This figure rose from the position in December 2017 to 610,411 investors.

However, the number is still far behind the total population of Indonesia which has reached about 242 million people. Similarly, the number of Internet users in Indonesia has reached 133 million people.

Thanks to this cooperation, BNP Paribas IP officially sells its 5 rupee-denominated mutual fund products via its tanamduit platform. These include BNP Paribas Prima II and BNP Paribas Omega which include fixed income mutual funds and BNP Paribas Ekuitas, BNP Paribas Infrastruktur Plus and BNP Paribas Solaris which include equity mutual funds.

The five products are available on the platform since July 12 and can be purchased by investors with a minimum investment cost of Rp 50,000.

BNP Paribas IP will also sell two mutual funds of dollar-based investments via tanamduit, namely BNP Paribas Prima USD and BNP Paribas Cakra Syariah USD. Both products became the first US dollar pooled fund traded online.
