Bus Falls to the Gorge in India, 33 passengers killed

Ambenali Ghat: A bus crashed into a ravine in India on Saturday, July 28, 2018, evening local time

The incident killed 33 pbadengers, employees of the Agricultural University of Dapoli. A person would have survived.

According to Indian Times reports, an accident occurred in Ambenali Ghat near the town of Poladpur in the Raigad district. The bus is known on the way to Mahabaleshwar.

Prakash Sawant Desai, badistant inspector at the university, managed to jump out of the bus. He climbed the slope and borrowed a pedestrian phone to call for help.

Sawant told authorities that the bus was slipping on a muddy track on Ambenali Ghat Road. Then the bus crashed about 152 meters to a depth of 243 meters.

"The bus turned left and fell into the abyss," Desai told reporters.

"The trees have hidden the fall of the bus, I managed to jump at the hour", he said, quoted by UPI Sunday, July 29, 2018.

The bus will initially be filled with 40 people. The Indian government has announced compensation of USD 5,822 for the families of the victims.

"Grievance of loss of life due to a bus accident in the Raigad district of Maharashtra", said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Twitter .
