Economic growth of East Indonesia is flying, Bali-Nusa Tenggara down

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Central Agency of Statistics (BPS) noted that the Indonesian economy in the third quarter of 2018 had risen by 5.17%. Java Island is still the main contributor.

But in the third quarter of 2018, it was found that economic growth in eastern Indonesia, namely Maluku and Papua, had increased. In fact, the percentage is higher than that of Java.

"The economic structure of Indonesia is still dominated by Java. Shareat 58.57 percent. Changing this structure takes a lot of time. Its growth is 5.74% (on an annual basis), "said BPS chief Suhariyanto, Jakarta, Monday (05/11/2018).

"But East of Indonesia, like Maluku and Papua, is growing by 6.87% with a 2.51% share (of Indonesia's economic growth)," he said. he continued.

Meanwhile, the other islands whose growth exceeds 6% are Sulawesi. BPS recorded economic growth of 6.74% for Sulawesi in the third quarter of 2018.

Followed by Java 5.74%, Sumatra 4.72%, Kalimantan 3.45% and Bali-Nusa Tenggara which dropped by less than 0.65%.

Especially for Bali-Nusa Tenggara, Suhariyanto said the slowdown in economic growth was due to two things.

"The economic share of Bali-Nusa Tenggara was 3.04%, the decline is due to the earthquake and the decline in production of Amman Mineral," he said.

Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2018 reached Rs.3,835.6 trillion.
