At the same time, this dismissed the idea that recent feed consumption was due to the loss of production data.

"According to data from the Food Crops Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture, maize production over the last five years has grown on average by 12.49% per year. This means that in 2018 , maize production is expected to reach 30 million tons of dry rice, "said the secretary general of Thanksgiving Iwantoro. in his office, Building A of the Ministry of Agriculture, Jl RM Harsono, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, Saturday (11/11/2018).

He also explained that the availability of maize production in November was estimated at 1.51 million tonnes for a harvested area of 282,381 hectares, while that for December was 1.53 million tonnes for a harvested area of 285,993 hectares. This production is distributed in the production centers of East Java, Central Java, North Sumatra, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Gorontolo, Lampung and other provinces.

While in terms of needs, based on data from the Agriculture Ministry of the Food Security Agency (BKP), maize demand for this year is estimated at 15.5 million tons of PK, which consists of animal feed at 7.76 million tonnes, independent farmers at 2.52 million tonnes. , for seed 120,000 tons of PK, and the food industry 4.76 million tons of PK.

"This means that Indonesia still has a surplus of 12.98 million tons of PK, and even Indonesia has exported corn to the Philippines and Malaysia up to 372,990 tons," did he declare.

However, added Mr. Syukur, the prevailing conditions at the moment have resulted in an increase in maize price in several central locations of the feed industry, which does not mean that production and the supply of maize from national farmers is problematic.
