KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The Indonesian company Palm Oil Business Association estimates that the production of biodiesel will reach this year 3.72 million tons. This figure has increased rapidly compared to last year's 2.21 million tonnes of biodiesel consumption.

Togar Sitanggang, Gapki Deputy General Chairman III for Trade and Sustainable Development, said the increase in consumption was attributable to the implementation of the B20.

Togar believes that the government-led B20 expansion program since September has been successful. It can be seen that the distribution of B20 for non-PSOs reached 74% and in October it reached around 80%.

"If we say that the B20 program does not work, I can not say that 74% are not successful. The B20 is successful, but it is not 100%," said Togar, Friday (3/11 ).

In the coming year, biodiesel consumption is expected to reach 5.5 million tonnes. This significant increase is due to the implementation of the B20 which is going well.

According to Togar, the logistical constraints that become obstacles to the distribution of biodiesel can be completed next year. In addition, this B20 distribution point will be simplified.

Although consumption is increasing in the coming year, biodiesel exports will actually decrease. Next year, exports are expected to reach 1 million tons and exports this year, 1.72 million tons.

This year's exports also grew rapidly compared to the previous year, reaching 163,000 tonnes. "This year's exports have increased because diesel prices are expensive, so people want mix. There are many exports to China, Europe, Korea and other countries, "said Togar.
