Bisnis.com JAKARTA – A number of agendas are discussed as part of the Inclusive Project on Erosion Base and Profit (BEPS) in Lima, Peru, June 28, 2018

John Hutagaol, Director of the International Taxation Division of the Ministry of Finance, said the first order of business was about the latest developments on taxation in the G20, G7 and EU countries. After the end of the agenda, the discussion continued on the latest developments concerning the implementation of BEPS, such as the digital economy, data collection, transfer pricing , multilateral instruments and harmful practices. Regarding the meeting, according to John, his side met with representatives of other jurisdictions, including the meeting with S Secretary General of the Task Force on the Digital Economy (TFDE) on June 28, 2018.

TFDE itself was formed at the second meeting of the IFPS in Paris in January 2017. This task force has obtained the mandate of IF BEPS to formulate and recommend a digital economy.

Despite the ongoing tension, the TFDE made recommendations on the collection of VAT (value-added tax). The discussion on VAT leads to the admission of a collection such as how to determine foreign suppliers as tax collectors

In this case, the TFDE encouraged the Member States to levy VAT on the basis of digital economic transactions.
