Last year, PT Vale Indonesia produced only 76,807 tonnes of nickel metal, a decrease from the 2015 production which reached 77,581 tonnes of metallic nickel.
But this year, Indonesia's largest mine aims to produce 77,000 tons of nickel methane. Until the second quarter, the company is confident of reaching the goal.
The goal is considered very realistic to see the price of nickel improve in the market, but PT Vale Indonesia also does not hesitate to increase its production capacity. it's Rp 15 thousand dollars per ton as the dollar gets stronger. Compared with the previous year, the price of nickel is only 11 000 Rp to 12 000 Rp per ton
"Even the price of nickel perna is only 9 000 Rp So, this year is good again, "Budi Handoko said. The nickel matte produced by PT Vale Indonesia can be sold up to 80% to Vale Canada Limited (VCL) and 20% to Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. (SMM). In one month, this company has made two exports. (*)
