Missouri boat trip and sinking, 11 dead

KANSAS CITY, KOMPAS.com – At least 11 people were killed when a tourist boat spilled and sank Thursday night (19/7/2018) in a lake near from the tourist town of Branson, Missouri, United States.

Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader told reporters that the death toll was a child.

The ship carried 29 pbadengers and two crew members while drowning at Table Rock Lake because of violent winds and storms

Rader added.

Emergency calls related to the tragedy were received by the police on Thursday evening around 7:00 pm local time. Local authorities immediately sent dive teams to search for victims

Rader explained that the boat sank most likely due to high winds and storms.

The National Weather Service has already issued a warning about storms in the area in the future -the sinking of the boat

The drowned duck was the # 39, one of the two boats still in service in the storm.

The previous incident involving this duck occurred in 1999, when a boat sank on Lake Hamilton, Hot Springs, Arkansas. The incident killed 13 pbadengers

In 2015, an amphibious vehicle owned by Ride the Ducks struck a leased bus at Aurora Bridge, Seattle, and killed five students.
