Nusa Dua (ANTARA News) – Minister of Human Development and Culture Coordination Puan Maharani said health development was the most important pillar of national security.
"National security is a cross-cutting issue, so we must include education, the environment and other issues," Puan Maharani said at the opening of a meeting Ministerial. The 5th Global Health Security Program (GHSA) in Nusa Dua, Bali, Tuesday.
He added that Indonesia attaches great importance to health in national development. Various efforts have been made to strengthen the health system in the country, including facilities and better access to health for the community on the basis of the principle of justice.
"Everyone needs access to equal health," added Puan.
Puan said the 2018 GHSA aims to accelerate the implementation of sanitary regulations to address the threat of new infectious diseases such as Ebola, MERS-CoV and Zika.
"Currently, 65 countries are members of the GHSA and I think each member country is ready to build its capacity to deal with these threats," he said.
Health Minister Nila Farid Moeloek said that at the global level, no country is immune to the threat of health problems.
Particularly in light of the ongoing changes, each country needs to be more dynamic and adaptable in order to respond to the very diverse global challenges to health.
Over time, the dynamics and interactions of various factors have a great influence, such as the high mobility resulting from increased transportation, tourism and the economy.
In addition, climate change, the excessive use of pesticides and antibiotics, badociated with an unhealthy lifestyle, can also exacerbate the threats to global health.
"Our challenges are currently multidimensional, and strong partnerships are very important at the regional and global levels," said the Minister of Health.
