Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) – The Meeting of ASEAN Ministers on Culture and the Arts (ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Culture and the Arts / AMCA) adopted the Yogyakarta Declaration on Strengthening the culture of prevention in order to enrich the identities of ASEAN agreed in Yogyakarta on Wednesday.

In the Yogyakarta Declaration, all ministers responsible for culture and the arts of ASEAN member countries agree to prioritize a culture of prevention for a peaceful, inclusive, resilient, healthy society and harmonious, with the aim of enriching the identity of ASEAN in all aspects of the cultural and artistic sector of ASEAN.

"Thus, this culture of prevention will color the activities that take place among the member countries themselves, as ASEAN countries and with three dialogue partners," said Culture Director Hilmar Farid.

In addition, all ministers agreed to support the implementation of elements of support to the culture of prevention in accordance with the ASEAN Strategic Plan for Culture and the Arts 2016-2025, especially to promote a culture of peace and intercultural understanding and to introduce a culture supporting the values ​​of moderation through a cross-sectoral approach. and coordination among the pillars of ASEAN and ensuring that the process of integrating the culture of prevention into the cultural and artistic sectors is inclusive.

Ministers also agreed to promote upstream activities in the cultural and artistic sector at different levels, including at the national, regional and international levels, with a culture of prevention that can contribute positively to the development of ASEAN. as a dynamic member of the global community and to foster the dynamics of ASEAN's identity.

The Yogyakarta Declaration also highlighted the points on which ministers agreed to develop evaluation frameworks and indicators to measure cultural sector efforts to mainstream prevention culture by member countries. ASEAN, in support of the Master Plan for the Sociocultural Community of ASEAN (Master Plan), and localization of Sustainable Development Goals

The ASEAN Ministers also decided to badign senior ASEAN officials in charge of culture and the arts (Meeting of Senior Officials in charge of Culture and Arts / SOMCA) and the Committee. of ASEAN for Culture and Information (ASEAN Committee for Culture and Information) to The relevant sectoral bodies to implement the declaration are in line with the Strategic Plan of the A & A ASEAN for Culture and Art 2016-2025 and other relevant cooperation frameworks.

Ministers also decided to request the ASEAN Cultural and Social Community Council (the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Council), sectoral ministerial bodies and other relevant partners to support the implementation of the the statement.
