"He thinks they're going to stop him." Jamal said he did not want to bear the consequences of his political views, Cengiz said.

He continued. Khashoggi then went to the consulate on September 28 and was surprised by the hospitality he displayed.

"He told me that his concerns were unfounded," said Cengiz. Therefore, on October 2, Khashoggi returned to the consulate.

However, this time, he did not leave the building. Cengiz then informed the Turkish authorities. The Saudis first insisted that Khashoggi be gone.

However, a source of a Turkish investigator said that the 59-year-old journalist had been killed and his body mutilated by 15 people.

Riyadh finally made a statement. Khashoggi was killed in a conflict, before changing to indicate that he was a victim of premeditated murder.

Turkish Attorney General Irfan Fidan said that Khashoggi was immediately strangled as soon as he entered the building, as planned.

Fidan said after meeting with Saudi Attorney General Sheikh Saud al Mojeb to discuss the development of the Khashoggi case.

"The body of the victim was cut to pieces and destroyed after his death by strangulation, which, again, in accordance with the original plan," he added.
