The fast train connects Makkah-Madinah to Jeddah

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (ANTARA News) – The Saudi government will soon inaugurate the operation of the Haramain fast train linking the holy city of Mecca and Madinah via Jeddah.

"With a top speed of 300 kilometers per hour, the Mecca- Medina trip, which is about 449 kilometers, can be reached in about two hours," said the superintendent of operations and maintenance of Saleem Mohammed Amin Bakshsh station of King Abdul Aziz (KAEC) in Jeddah, Monday (16/7). between Mecca and Medina became the link between the two holy cities. The trip from KAEC Station to Mecca will take about 55 minutes, as will the trip from KAEC to Madinah.

Saleem describes the KAEC Station building, located about 110 kilometers from the center of Jeddah, is a British architectural company design, used in the operation of trains provided by the Spanish company Talgo.

Technological badistance in service at the KAEC station includes ATMs, train tickets at the entrance of the platform, as well as service stations. has a spacious prayer room, peturasan, waiting room, as well as shops and a restaurant. During the day, the lighting of the entire station hall comes from a solar reflector mounted on the station building.

Ra Yan added that each train can carry 417 pbadengers and 834 strollers. With this capability, the Harramain fast train is ready to serve the community and visitors from outside of Saudi Arabia, especially pilgrims and umrahs.

On May 7, 2018, the Saudi Minister of Transport Nabil bin Mohammed Al-Amoudi will start operating in September and when it will be fully operational by early 2019, he will be able to carry up to 60 million pbadengers a year.
