KI Weda Bay will become an industrial center for products integrated with ferronickel, stainless steel, carbon steel and downstream products.

Meanwhile, according to the official publication of PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park, the company is a joint venture of three Chinese investors, namely Tsingshan, Huayou and Zhenshi.
The Weda Bay industrial zone is the result of an agreement between Eramet Group (France) and Tsingshan, in collaboration with a local partner, PT Aneka Tambang Tbk. in 2018, develop nickel ore deposits and a 30kt / Ni nickel-nickel cast iron smelter as the first smelter at KI Weda Bay.
IWIP would be the first integrated industrial zone in the world to transform the mineral resources from the mouth of the mine into the final product in the form of steel, batteries and electric vehicles.
In addition to facilitating metal refining activities, the industrial zone also aims to encourage various investors to build downstream industrial processing facilities, including nickel sulphate (NiS) 4, NCM / NCA precursors, to produce final products in the form of Li-ion batteries for electric vehicles. .
