The lowest since October 2015, the Rupiah drops to 14.284 Rp per US dollar

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The rupiah is depressed before the end of the first semester. On Thursday (28/6), the Interbank Interbanking Rate from Jakarta (Jisdor) to Bank Indonesia is at Rp 14.271 per US dollar (US).

The rupee weakened by 0.76% compared to the position of Tuesday at 14,163 Rp for one US dollar. This is the lowest position of Jisdor rupiah since October 7, 2015.

In the spot market at 22:44, the exchange rate of the rupee is 14.284 Rp per US dollar. This is the lowest level of the rupee against the US dollar since October 6, 2015.

In one trading day, the rupee on the spot market weakened 0.74%. According to the data Bloomberg, the rupee has weakened 5.10% since the beginning of the year.

The rupee was the currency with the third biggest weakness in Asia after the rupee weakened 7.13 percent and the Philippine peso weakened 6.83 percent.

Meanwhile, the dollar index reflecting the exchange rate of the US dollar against major world currencies rose by 3.39% year to date (YTD). Today, the dollar index has weakened slightly to 95.24.
