Install Radeon Software 19.2.3 on any reasonably recent AMD GPU

Last month, AMD promised that "all Radeon software updates [would] supports all Ryzen Mobile laptops "at the end of the first quarter of this year.Normally, this should be around March 31, but AMD has taken a lead and surprised us with Radeon Software 19.2.3, which offers complete support for Ryzen chips with Radeon Vega graphics on desktop and mobile platforms.

This means that you can install the new 19.2.3 driver package on Radeon HD 8000 discrete mobile and desktop PC chips, as well as on all APUs with GCN graphics going back to Kabini. . The system in question will need to run a 64-bit version of Windows, Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 10.

The 19.2.3 release represents a tremendous leap forward for the Ryzen Mobile chips compared to the driver of the edition period on which they were blocked. AMD claims that it offers average performance that is about 10% higher, with the largest gains – up to 17% performance improvement – in "stock". This driver also offers specific game support for Dirt Rally 2, resulting in a 3% performance improvement over the latest driver version on Radeon RX Vega 64 cards.

This driver should finally kill the bug "Outlines of characters stuck to the screen" Battlefield V. Running full-screen video players with FreeSync enabled should no longer kill your video signal. Setting a manual ventilation curve in Wattman should now properly disable the zero speed mode and the fan speed should decrease as expected if you used a manual ventilation curve on the Radeon VII. Finally, ReLive wireless virtual reality should not fail after "long periods of play".

This annoying bug where the system slows down and the mouse gets slow after turning off a connected screen still hangs. Similarly, changes made to the Wattman settings in the Radeon overlay may still not apply correctly. Some hybrid graphics configurations may have a green flicker when you move the mouse on YouTube videos in Chrome with hardware acceleration enabled in the browser. Finally, it may be that Wattman simply does not work properly or at all on the Radeon VII.
