Interference calls with NFL passes and non-calls can now be disputed

The National Football League is making a big change: offensive / defensive pass interference calls and non-calls are now facing the challenges of coaches and a 2-minute test, according to several reports. 31 out of 32 owners of the NFL voted for of this rule change Tuesday night.

The impetus for this new ruler stems obviously from the controversial non-appeal that helped the Los Angeles Rams defeat the New Orleans Saints in the NFC 2019 championship game. Sean Payton and the Saints have not stopped complaining about this game since their defeat … even though New Orleans got the ball first in overtime and was finally done.

If the new rules were in effect last season, the Philadelphia Eagles could have called into question an interference call from the BS offensive pass on Dallas Goedert in a 14th week game against the Cowboys. Of course, officials could have determined that their initial appeal was correct, even though it was not. After all, there can be a lot of subjectivity in the interference of the pass.

And that is precisely the reason why there is some question of installing this new rule. It will be interesting to see the impact of this change on the game in 2019. It is as if many other flags were launched.

16. by the Competition Committee; amend section 15, section 1, section 5, to allow league staff to be disqualified for flagrant facts, whether they are committed to football or not.

1. by Buffalo; amend Article XVII, section 17.4, to liberalize the rule of reacquisition of an affected player via waivers.

2. by competition committee; amend Section 17.1 of Article XVII to give clubs more flexibility during their training camp.

3. by competition committee; amend Article XVIII, Section 18.1, to provide teams with more effective access to players during the playoffs.

4. by the competition committee; amend Article XIV, section 14.3.B) 8) to make the tie-breaking procedures fairer for the selection meeting.

5. By competition committee; amend Section 17.1 of Article XVII to provide additional places in the list during the pre-season.

Summary of approved 2019 resolutions

G-1. By competition committee; modify the anti-falsification policy to allow an interested club to contact a veteran who has acquired rights before the clubs have been informed of the termination of the player via the Player's Staff Notice if (i) the players do not are not subject to the waiver system and, employer club has publicly announced the release of the player.

G-2a. By competition committee; for one year only, clubs will receive league responses after the match to referee requests from all clubs.
