Iowa reports sharp increase in vaccinations

IOWA

(KWWL) – There were 539 new confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the state dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 339,208.

The state’s website says that of the 339,208 people who tested positive, 319,783 recovered. That’s 779 more recoveries than the state reported on Thursday.

The state’s death toll is 5,552, 3 more than reported yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (319,783) and the number of deaths (5,552) from the total number of cases (339,208), there are currently 13,873 active positive cases in the state.

As of Saturday morning, 33 patients were hospitalized in Iowa in the past 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 170, a decrease from 176 hospitalized the day before. Of these, 38 are in intensive care (compared to 39 instead of 39) and 10 on ventilators (instead of 9).

In Iowa, 3,064 people have been tested in the past 24 hours and a total of 1,575,063 people have been tested for COVID-19.

According to the state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Dashboard, 793,037 total doses were given to Iowa residents and 239,265 people completed the streak, up 30,836 from Friday. You can view the dashboard for more data. You can find more information and stories about vaccines here.

BLACK HAWK COUNTY

Starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Black Hawk COVID-19 dashboard shows 21 new cases since 10 a.m. Thursday, leaving a total of 15,987 cases. There were 21 additional recoveries, for a total of 14,237. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 293 deaths. In Black Hawk County, 9,336 residents have been fully immunized.

LINN COUNTY

Starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Linn County COVID-19 Dashboard shows 18 new cases since 10 a.m. Thursday, leaving a total of 19,498 cases. There were 26 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 17,990 recoveries. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 328 deaths in the county. There are 15 patients currently hospitalized in the county. In Linn County, 19,617 residents were fully vaccinated.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to state dashboard As of 10 a.m. Saturday, 21 new positive cases were reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Friday. This brings the total to 13,159 reported cases. There were a total of 12,553 recoveries, 22 more than yesterday. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 75. In Johnson County, 18,248 residents have been fully immunized.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to state dashboard As of 10 a.m. Saturday, another 10 positive cases were reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Friday. This brings the total to 12,445 reported cases. There were 27 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 11,794. One additional death was reported, leaving a total of 196. In Dubuque County, 9,613 residents were fully immunized.
