IPad Pro owners no longer have to pay $ 129 to get a high-quality stylus. Apple Pencil 2 is no longer the only option.
Apple is changing course by allowing the Logitech Pencil to work with many of its tablets. This accessory costs about half the price of Pencil 2.

One of the drawbacks of the Logitech Pencil when it was launched was that this more affordable alternative to the Apple Pencil only worked with the iPad that debuted last spring. The recent release of the iPad Air 3 and the iPad mini 5 has added two other models that can use the Pencil, but all others have been closed.
That left a lot of people scratching their heads. The screens on these tablets are nothing special, so why would the Pencil work with these models, but not with the iPad Pro models? Apple was suspected of limiting this third-party stylus only to support sales of its own pencil.
And that's apparently what was happening, but Apple has now yielded. According to a report on Six Colors, many additional devices can now use Logitech Pencil, provided they run iOS 12.2. Cult of Mac has tested this on an iPad Pro 12.9 inch last fall running the latest beta and can confirm that this tablet now accepts this accessory's inputs.
That said, we do not know yet how many older models will also have access. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro, now abandoned, apparently did not make a difference.
The full version of OS 12.2 is not out yet, but could debut soon after Apple's press conference on Monday.
Logitech Pencil vs Apple Pencil

On the other hand, the Pencil resists fraudulent manipulations: Logitech designed it for children and it can not be easily dismantled by bored students. This is not true for the pencil.
But the biggest advantage of the third-party alternative is the price. As stated, the Apple Pencil 2 – the only version supported by the iPad Pro 2018 – costs 129 USD. The Logitech Pencil costs $ 69.95, and this price rises to $ 49.99 when purchased through Apple's Education channel.
The Pencil is powered by an integrated Lightning port. An iPad Pro can charge this accessory with a USB-C cable to Lightning. Or it can be loaded with an iPhone cable.
