The iPhone SE remains a favorite among a notable percentage of iPhone fans, thanks to its small size and low price for Apple. We hope to see a new iteration this year, but as with the iPhone 13, there is still a lot we don’t know about what such a phone would look like.
Thanks to a new rendering from the YouTube concept creator 4RMD, we have a little idea of what to expect from an iPhone SE 3. And while there are design clues from previous versions of Apple’s compact phone, the design comes up with some new frills.
The iPhone SE mockup from 4RMD includes some features that you might expect from a new iPhone. There is a 5.3 inch screen – larger than the 4.7 inch screen on the current iPhone SE but not as big as the iPhone 12 mini. The video also boasts Touch ID and Face ID as well as a physical button for added security. If you ask us, this model looks a lot like the iPhone XR in many ways, but without the notch of this phone.
The current iPhone SE is available in black, white and red. This video imagines it will continue, but adds a golden version to the mix.
In another departure from the current iPhone SE, this potential model sports a pair of rear cameras. It would also offer the A14 Bionic chip, the same one that powers the iPhone 12 line. This isn’t a big leap in logic – previous iPhone SE models featured the current Apple-designed processor, which doesn’t. only adds to their appeal.
Even with the changes, 4RMD is considering pricing the iPhone SE 3 at $ 399. This could be the key factor in everything. Reports disappointing sales of iPhone 12 mini suggest that it’s not a small screen that some buyers are after, but rather this low cost for generally expensive Apple gear.
It’s unclear if there is another iPhone SE in the works at Apple that never discusses its phone versions in advance. Some analysts expected an iPhone SE follow-up this year, but rumors late last year suggested that the phone would appear at the end of 2021 if it happened at all.
More recently, an Apple Insider report has set the first half of 2022 as the probable exit date. Just as we don’t know when or if we should expect the iPhone 13 this year, we have no idea what could come from an iPhone SE. The best thing we can do right now, as with many upcoming tech products, is sit around and wait and see what happens later.
