INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The superintendent of Indianapolis public schools on Monday evening announced additional protocols that will begin after Labor Day to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
All changes are marked in blue on an IPS web page showing all district protocols.
Superintendent Aleesia Johnson announced the changes in a Vimeo video Monday night.
The new protocols include:
- Changes in visitor policy, making visits by appointment only and limiting visitor interactions in classrooms.
- At the same time, reduce the number of pupils in the cafeterias of primary schools. In these schools, in some cases, the classrooms will be used for lunch.
- Masks must be worn when signing or vocalizing.
- The district will accept either a PCR or a rapid test for asymptomatic and symptomatic people. Testing should be performed in a clinical setting.
Johnson said in the video that the district will also host more immunization clinics and conduct more “surveillance tests” to monitor what is happening at school, as recommended by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. and local health officials.
IPS has implemented a mask warrant since the start of the new school year on August 2.
