Meath lose to Wicklow and Dublin stunned because of it

Dublin demolished Westmeath Tuesday night but it would not be enough for it to progress.

And then there were four. It seems odd that the Leinster Championships are in their last four stages without a Dublin performance.

After a competitive group stage at the Leinster Minor Championship, this is exactly the case with the Dubs finishing in third place in the draw, missing the qualification for the semi-finals by the narrowest margins.

The first group went to the end and it all came down to the last round of Tuesday night's games to decide who would progress.

Meath entered the fifth round knowing that he already had a secure qualification, which meant that Wicklow and Dublin would be competing for the last place.

Dublin demolished part of Westmeath late This meant that Garden County needed to beat Meath to keep their hopes alive.

Wicklow, upset by their giant Dublin slaughter last week, continued his fine form to take Meath by two points.

We would say that Meath suffers after this loss

With the rivalry between them and the capital, the royal county would only enjoy seeing the Dubs eliminated. 19659008] The hashtag #gaathisismajor could not describe to me better what the minor footballers of Wicklow and the @wicklowgaagca managed to beat Dublin at Parnell Park and supported it against Meath undefeated tonight! The history of the championship has undoubtedly been those Wi boys cklow, however. Kevin O. Brien's men have eliminated Meath and Dublin in the group stages now and they will be more and more confident in the final stages of this championship.

Here's how the ranking went after five games played.

On the other side of the painting, Kildare and Laois will progress. The Lilywhites were not troubled in any of their games, and they now have favorite looks for this competition.

Here is the list of semi-finals

  • Laois v Meath, O. Moore Park, Portlaoise, Saturday, July 7, 12:00 pm

  • Kildare v Wicklow, St Conleth's Park, Newbridge, Saturday 7 July, 12 noon.
