Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp lamented Joel Matip's injury as "the most negative thing of the day" after the defeat friendly Sunday against Borussia Dortmund in Charlotte.
The defenseman, whose 2017/18 season was cut short by a thigh injury that required surgery, was sacked 22 minutes after the Champions Cup game against Bank of America Stadium.
Klopp downplayed the recurrence of the previous problem, saying that it was a "small tear", and the player will be monitored over the next few days.
"This is not the same injury. It is another muscle – it looks like, hopefully, a small tear," said the manager at his press conference. post-match, quoted on the club's website
