The goal of their manager believes it can happen.
Since arriving at Dalymount Park in November 2014, Keith Long has worked on a mini-miracle in terms of using limited resources.
After finishing fifth in the Premier Division last year, the club will repeat that feat if results go their way tonight.
Other clubs have money to buy players, Bohs are dependent largely on a healthy belt of talent and scouting. But is their realistic glbad ceiling?
Long has just been penned to a three-year deal – he has been working hard before that – and is cautiously optimistic that he could return to Dalyer under his watch.
"Yeah, we'd like to," the 44-year-old said. "It's no secret that the top three are paying 52 weeks. They have the resources.
"Dundalk, they will not benchmark their success going forward on the league campaign – it will be on Europe.
"That 's the level they' ve gotten to – we 're a little bit more than we can. must).
"There is a big gulf." The difference between us and fourth place is NINE points.
"But our future season was very inconsistent, we need to look at expanding the league out, so there's better balance."
Long, who will now go part-time with his employers DBC Group, is reiterating his plan for this change for a part time clubs.
"There's no reason why we can not extend it until the end of November," he said.
"There will be some midweek games – but the frequency of this year was unusual.
"Then you go out of the cup and you could have a better game.
"We won a derby in the 99th minute and were up in Derry on the Monday.
"If you ask the other managers, even the full-time managers with better resources, I'd still say it was a bit of a challenge for those guys.
"We can not be given a fixture list – we need a conversation and a review of the season."
The Gypsies lost 11 players after last season. Then the congested fixture list, left to the number of new staff, left Bohs playing catch-up.
They enjoyed an excellent second half to the campaign.
"It's a great opportunity to move forward," he said.
"We want to try and keep our best players, but we're not foolish enough to think that we're not there.
"But we do not want to lose our best players year on year".
