No other Barrowside club had won a triumphed back in 2008
RAPID-FIRE goals from Murtough Ware and Brendan Kavanagh gave Carlow Fields ire their first victory in the SFC Leinster in ten years.
No Carlow has had a match in the competition since Éire Óg in 2008.
But two goals in two minutes midway through the first half sank Newtown Blues at the Gaelic Grounds in Drogheda yesterday.
It was 2-5 to 0-5 at half-time and Blues finished with 13 men after sub Jamie Kelly and Andy McDonnell were sent off.
Éire now face Mullinalaghta in two weeks, bidding for revenge after last year's opening-round defeat.
