Altered Carbon is undergoing major revision for season 2 – but this is not necessarily a bad thing!

The science fiction drama officially received its second renewal of season on Friday, and that is with the announcement that Avengers star Anthony Mackie will take over from Takeshi Kovacs! In addition to Mackie replacing original star Joel Kinnaman, season 2 will also find Alison Schapker of Fringe joins the series as a co-showrunner alongside Laeta Kalogridis.

Kinnaman had confirmed shortly after the first season he would not be coming back for season 2, but honestly, this announcement was not really a surprise. Given the nature of the universe of Altered Carbon – in which people simply receive new bodies, or "sleeves", when they die – and the fact that season 1 ends with Kovacs giving up his current sleeve, we knew that the redesign was coming. That said, we never expected it to be Anthony Mackie

This role marks Mackie's first big concert, which is why this casting is so exciting. In addition to playing The Falcon in the film world of Marvel, Mackie is best known for Million Dollar Baby, Hurt, Notorious and playing Martin Luther King, Jr. in the movie HBO [19659011] From Dippers to Needlecasting: Here's Your Glossary Carbon Glossary

The novels of Richard K. Morgan that Altered Carbon is based on Kovacs' journey over hundreds of years, Throughout the universe and through many innings, it is possible that we are not granted a season of Mackie playing the tired mercenary. To that end, let's go into season 2 savoring every moment of Mackie as Kovacs because our time with him in this role will probably be very limited.

The second season will be eight episodes, but Netflix has not announced a first date of love. In the meantime, you can broadcast Season 1 now!
