In September, Apple was the main beneficiary of a 67% increase in global smartwatch shipments over a year, with a delivery of 4.5 million Apple watches, according to research estimates released on Friday.

The market has reached about 10 million units, or 45% of Apple's share, said Strategy Analytics. The company grew 25% year-over-year against 3.6 million units estimated. It should be noted, however, that Apple has never published the official Watch figures, preferring to make general performance statements. For the last quarter, he only said that wearable device sales were up 50%, contributing to the "other products" business figure of $ 4.2 billion.

Apple's market share is down 60% due to competition from Fitbit and Samsung. Fitbit is now officially on the smartwatch market thanks to the Ionic and Versa models, while Samsung has made breakthroughs with the Galaxy Watch. These companies sold 1.5 and 1.1 million units in the last quarter, respectively.

The fourth-largest player, Garmin, has seen progress, but has had to withstand the growing competition in the fitness industry. The company shipped about 800,000 units, compared with 600,000 previously.

Apple's performance was undoubtedly fueled by the Apple Watch Series 4, arriving late September. The device has a larger screen, an ECG sensor and a faster processor, among other upgrades.
