Belfast Star is the new leader in the men's Super League Basketball after a captivating 89-79 victory over Garvey's Tralee Warriors in Tralee.
Northerners are currently taking the league by storm and in a raging first half they have taken a lead of 46-44.
In the second half, the teams exchanged baskets until the third quarter. Star took a three-point lead 66-63 in the final period.
Going down the stretch, Star hit hard with Sergio Vidal Baldovoi and Mike Davis, a source of inspiration – much to the relief of coach Adrian Fulton.
"It was a huge test for my inexperienced team to play in attendance, and luckily when the game was suspended we executed key baskets that sealed our victory."
CJ Fulton, the 16-year-old coach's son, was one of Belfast's stars and Adrian admitted that he behaved well for the team: "He did well Performed, we are delighted with him and we did not think he would play nearly as much as him. It's more out of necessity. Aidan Quinn is injured, Conor plays with one hand and CJ has the opportunity to seize him. He grabbed and it's great. "
Templeogue lost his second consecutive game after coming down to DCU Saints 68-67 in a thrilling match at Inchicore. It was certainly a great victory for Saints Michael Bonaparte's American pillar, released by Templeogue at the end of last season and coming back to contribute with 18 points.
Stephen James was lucky to win the match for Templeogue, but missed two free throws five seconds from the end, much to the relief of his coach Joey Boylan.
"It was a tense match that could have been a two-way game and I hope my team can bet on that performance."
UCC Demons' hopes for the title were shattered when they lost 87-78 against the Griffith College Thunder Swords. Thunder's coach, Dave Baker, missed the match as he is currently hospitalized, but his team produced a solid basketball to defeat the Leesiders.
C & S Neptune won their first game of the season beating Maree in a thrilling match at the Neptune stadium. The Galway team has won two impressive victories over UCC Demons and UCD Marian, but Neptune has shown greater hunger in the sector.
Lehmon Colbert had his best game of the season with a score of 24 points, with head coach Paul Kelleher praising his team's performance.
"To change, we were rewarded for our efforts and I thought our defense was essential to getting us through the line. We lost our way for five minutes, but the guys stood up and we hope we can continue on that win. "
UCD Marian also returned to victory after an impressive 86-64 win over Killorglin in Belfield. In a match that was in the balance until the third quarter, UCD moved up a gear, with Conor Meany leading with 17 points.
In the women's Super League court, Liffey Celtics sent a statement of intent during the demolition of DCU Mercy 80-57. The Kildare have always been at the top, and with their American Briana Green giving an exhibition with a 34 point contribution, they easily managed to decorate DCU with style.
The WT Wildcats improvement continued with 71 to 32 wins against Marble City Hawks.
Sunday's derby in Cork was defeated by father Mathews, who beat Brunell 72-70 with two free throws at the end of Niamh Dwyer, sealing a hard-won win for the newly-promoted club.
In an error-prone match, Gurranabraher was very busy with Brunell wondering how he had saved Mathews from death, with Gráinne Dwyer leading the way with 30 points.
UCC Glanmire remains undefeated after his 61-49 win over Italian Carlow and Limani Davis with 19 points.
