BT TV finally allows offline downloads, but it has a price

BT followed in the footsteps of Sky with a new subscription service for its BT TV customers, designed to facilitate multi-screen viewing and on-the-go viewing.

For an additional £ 5 per month, current Subscribers can access the new BT TV App Extra service, which allows viewing up to four devices (two previously) outside the set-top box. Thus, for example, users can watch content on their decoder, while broadcasting Premier League football on a Chromecast BT Sport.

The service, similar to the Sky Go Extra platform, is compatible with Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV and Google Chromecast, with Amazon Fire TV compatibility coming soon. We hope that BT will soon be adding its favorite video game consoles and Roku decoders, but there has not yet been any news from BT about other devices.

This will also allow users to download and play subscription catch up content, as well as BT Store rentals and purchases within the BT App. This is a long-awaited feature that will allow subscribers to pre-download content and watch it without staining their data or during times when Wi-Fi access is limited, such as a morning commute.

Existing BT subscribers will be able to purchase App Extra as a bolt at their current rate. Although the price is more restrictive for some subscribers to BT, it is the same as that charged by Sky to access its Sky Go Extra service.

Those who choose not to pay for the additional service may continue to broadcast live and recorded. -Demand content of BT applications and website.
