The Nire 0-9 Kilrossanty 0-7

The Nire won a ninth senior football title in Waterford under the spotlight of Fraher Field, beating a Kilrossanty team in search of its first Conway Cup in 29 years.

The West Waterford club had to survive the fourth minute of overtime when Pa Cunningham of Kilrossanty shot through a mbad of limbs before his effort deviated from Diarmuid Murphy's right post.

Kilrossanty made the best of the first half and took two points ahead (0-5 to 0-3). Striker Paul Whyte offered two superb liberations, in addition to the efforts of former Tipperary player Martin Dunne, Tommy Prendergast and Cunningham. Remarkably, The Nire scored only once in the first period, but found a redefined and doubly determined formation dominating the second period, largely thanks to the efforts of Thomas O'Gorman and Darren Guiry. Indeed, Guiry's three free players proved to be crucial in a tight and defense-dominated fight.
