A diver found an iPhone on the seabed off the coast of Dorset when it turned on after receiving a text.
Cerys Hearsey noticed the light during the Durdle Door dive on Saturday and was surprised to find the mobile.
The aircraft was dropped by a Canadian kayak tourist, who abandoned it due to loss
After disembarking, Miss Hearsey was able to locate a relative of the owner and return the phone to Canada.
Miss Hearsey, 34, of Southend, said, "We were pbading a jar of lobster, and on a rock next door, I noticed something that lit up.
"When I returned it, it became clear that it was a phone. I just donned it in my dry shirt pocket and I forgot it until the end of the day. "
Miss Hearsey said when she came back to the dry land she opened the phone and scrolled through the messages to try to identify the owner.
"Some of the names were quite unique, so I pulled some messages," she adds.
"The cousin of the owners responded the next morning and we were able to meet each other before return to Esbad – a stroke of luck because the owner was already back in Canada and gave the phone
