Feakle's Donnellan flies high on the "incredible buzz" of the parish – The Clare Champion

The season of the parish's hurlers shortened the winter to Feakle and Oisín Donnellan really enjoyed the atmosphere.
"In recent weeks, there has been an incredible buzz around the parish. Everyone is eager to do so and wish you the best of luck. It's a real community, "he says.
A graduate of NUI Galway, further studies could be on the horizon for Donnellan in the future. "I said I would give myself a break for several years and that I would see what I wanted to do. I did not know if I would go back to do a Masters or not. I'll start thinking about it after the end of the pitch. "
At the moment, he works at Clare Fruit and Veg in Ennis and sometimes there is a lot of conversation noise in the premises.
"I'm on the shelves and in the crates and all that. It was good, we had a great time in the county finals. Matt Waters, the owner, is from Tubber and he is involved in the launch of Tubber. It was so good, it's good, it's good to have the right to boast! "
He is happy to be home to Feakle for the winter and says the parish is really behind the team.
"In Waterford, the number of people who traveled was incredible. The elderly, all who could go were there to support us. We stopped at Clonmel on the way back to eat and I would say that half of the parish was inside waiting for us.
"It's an amazing opportunity to be in a final in Munster, that's why you play your whole life, days like this, playing with your family and friends."
His father, Val, is part of the team and Oisín insists that this is not a problem for him.
"It's not so bad, it treats me the same way as everyone else, there is no special treatment or unfair treatment. It's great, it's good when you win, but when you lose your difference around the house! "He laughed.
Feakle nearly knocked Clooney out of last year's senior championship, but after that tie, the two clubs' stories diverged, with Clooney about to win the Canon Hamilton, while Feakle was relegated.
They have already reached the top priority for the year, with a county title won, but winning a Munster Championship would be a huge bonus.
"We were very disappointed [last year], everyone at Feakle was. This year our main goal was to get up and thank God for doing it. We are very happy to be in a final in Munster, that's what you're playing for. "
Donnellan says that they expect Charleville to play the hurling style that is now synonymous with their county.
"I know they have some county players like Darragh Fitzgibbon, so you know you're going to have to try to reduce it, we've heard they're working very hard, Ben O'Connor is in their place, they so play a real style of hurling. "
When people think of the finals of Munster, they think of hot summer days, not the type of conditions that will be seen this weekend.
"This time of year is very different from what you play in the summer. It's all about winning your own ball and being physical. As we have seen below, you can not shoot beyond 50 or 60 meters, you have to work on it. I guess we did it on the last day with the five goals. "
One more win will create good memories for everyone involved in the club and it will be a great time for the Donnellan Clan if they can cross the line.
