Chris Froome collapses in a chaotic finale at the Tour de France opening while Colombian Fernando Gaviria wins the stage at Fontenay-le-Comte
Froome is forced to leave the roadside to just over five kilometers from the end, and crossed the line almost a minute after Gaviria.

This leaves them already in embarrbadment with the general ranking hopes that have avoided trouble, with Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida), Bob Jungels (Quick-Step), Mikel Landa and Alejandro Valverde (Movista r ) all in the leading group, just like Froome's teammate, Geraint Thomas.
