The World Cup fever should arrive at one of Nottingham's most iconic landmarks: the Castle
English fans will be able to gather on the pitch for the quarter-finals between England and Sweden on Saturday, July 7th.
A 27 square meter screen will broadcast Saturday's live game from Green to Nottingham Castle
The family event, hosted by Nottingham City Council, will be free to enter on the premise of the first arrived, first served. Gareth Southgate's team earned a spot in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night with a spectacular shootout win over Columbia.
Gates will open Saturday at 1pm for the 3pm mailing and there will be either refreshments available on site, including a licensed bar.
Although the castle site is now closed to the public as part of the £ 30m transformation project, visitors will be able to enter through the main gate on Lenton Road on Saturday and gain access to the Green
All other areas, including the castle itself, will not be accessible.
The event will have no impact on archaeological excavations underway in the castle area nor on the transformation work. Councilor Jon Collins, head of the Nottingham City Council, said: "As long as England stays in the tournament, we will give people the chance to make this moment a memorable moment by watching the game with their friends.
