James McClean completed his medical examination with Stoke City, with the championship club confirming the Irish winger, will end his trip to West Brom over the weekend.

McClean arrived at Stoke's training field at Clayton Wood today before transferring five million pounds to Gary Rowett's team.

McClean is about to leave the Hawthorns since he's been sanctioned by the club for being engaged in the AWOL last month.

A statement from the club at the time said: "James McClean did not give permission without permission." Rowett had already tried to sign McClean last January, but West Brom refused to sell, a decision that caused McClean's ire.

"I want regular football, everywhere McClean told the Derry newspaper at the time.

"If it's the right choice for me and it provides me with a regular football then I'm open to just about anything."

"I just want to play football, I'm 28 now and the last 18 months have been really frustrating, I feel like I'm at my best when I get a series of games. Escaped in the last 18 months when I had a few games and the team changed for some reason. "

McClean joins his new members Peter Etebo, Benik Afobe and Adam Federici in Stoke. publishers
