Jimmy Kimmel hit the streets of Hollywood the day after midterm elections with some “fake news” of his own.
The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host pretended Kid Rock won a Michigan Senate seat Tuesday – and people actually believed it.
Kimmel sent a correspondent to prank unsuspecting pedestrians during a special “Kid Rock the Vote” edition of Kimmel’s “Lie Witness News,” a segment where he jokingly spreads outlandish news to see if people fall for it.

The rock star, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, hinted he might run for Senate last year before ultimately apologizing for the elaborate publicity stunt, which included selling branded “Kid Rock for U.S. Senate” merchandise.
“We went out on the street and told people Kid Rock won the special election for senate,” Kimmel said. “We even showed them footage of Kid Rock in concert and told them it was his acceptance speech.”

Kimmel continued: “Watch now as real people weigh in on a fake election.”
“I did hear a little bit about it today in the morning,” one person said when hearing the false news. “I didn’t go too much into detail, but I did see it on my phone.”
The correspondent then asked people their thoughts on Kid Rock’s alleged policies, which included lowering the age to buy scratch-off lottery tickets to 10 and legalizing crystal meth for medicinal purposes, and his supposed campaign slogan, “Smell my fingers: No new taxes.”

People appeared shocked and confused, but didn’t challenge the information.
At the end of the segment, the unwary pack sent messages of advice to the musician: “Senator … I’m disgusted and appalled that you won,” one man said.
Kid Rock is a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, visiting the White House last month for the signing of the Music Modernization Act.
