The Ford Mustang BULLITT is a serious kit.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Bullitt's debut, which features one of the most iconic pursuits in film history in one of the most iconic cars in film history, a green Ford. Mustang GT Fastback, driven by none other than Steve McQueen.
To celebrate the anniversary of Bullitt's release and pay tribute to McQueen's Highland Green Mustang GT Fastback, Ford has launched a new version of the special edition car, called the Mustang BULLITT.
Powered by Ford's 5.0-liter V8 engine, upgraded to deliver an expected 464 hp and 526 Nm of torque, the Mustang BULLITT also features Ford's new trim clearing technology as standard. softer downgrades accompanied by a "brushstroke" of engine power.
Luckily, and it turns out that I have a lot, I've been sent to Nice to test this iconic piece of the history of the automobile. I was both excited and nervous.
Nervous because it was the first time I was going to drive the "wrong" side of the road. I had never driven a car to drive left before.
Excited because, well, when you see the car for yourself, you'll know.
After looking at it, you are immediately struck by the aesthetic beauty of your car. Of course, the legendary Highland Green color was used to commemorate the car driven by McQueen to Bullitt, but she just manages to accentuate what is a gorgeous car.
To get used to driving the "wrong" side of the road, a Ford representative allowed me to drive his Fiesta from my hotel to the airport, where we had to pick up the Mustang. It was a strange feeling to shift gears with my right hand, but I went to the airport unscathed and I was ready for the big one.
Even before leaving, it was hard not to notice the inside of the car, which is beautiful. It features a fully digital 12-inch LCD instrument cluster, Recaro sports seats, a numbered plate instead of the traditional Mustang emblem on the pbadenger side dashboard, and a premium B & O audio system (Bang & Olufsen). .
Once I started, one of the really great features of the car was the ability to alter the sound of the exhaust gases.
There are a number of different settings to play and, of course, I settled on "Race Track". I thought being seen crossing Cannes and Nice in this iconic car was not enough. I needed to be heard too. I need it so much.
When you get in the car and get behind the wheel, you really feel like something special is about to happen. The power of the car is scary but exhilarating. Coupled with the sound of the exhaust, you think you are unstoppable.
We went from Nice Airport to Cannes, then back, admiring breathtaking scenery. Driving on winding roads really gives you an idea of the responsiveness of driving.
Ford engineers have further optimized the driving dynamics of the Mustang to offer the best driving experience to date. Recalibrated dampers improve stability in the corners and the rear suspension is reinforced by a transverse seal that reduces unwanted movement at each corner, which can cause body flexion.
While driving in Cannes, you are very aware of all the expensive luxury cars, but even among all these beautiful adornments, the Mustang BULLIT stands out and is the engine that everyone was looking at … and not just because I looked a lot like to a man. who drove for the first time on the other side of the road.
Driving the "wrong" side of the road has never been so good.
