Lewis Hamilton strengthens his lead over the title by winning the Hungarian Grand Prix | sport

Lewis Hamilton wins the Hungarian Grand Prix after a controlled and dominant race in which his Mercedes team takes advantage of their advantage after starting from pole.

In hot, dry weather, Sebastian Vettel won second place by beating Valtteri Bottas with five laps to go. Bottas suffered damage when Vettel pbaded and could only finish in fifth place. Daniel Ricciardo put in another performance in Hungary and came superbly on the field to take fourth place from the 12th on the grid. His teammate of Red Bull Max Verstappen, however, was furious with retire from the fifth with another Renault engine failure.

This is Hamilton's sixth victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix and he is the most successful driver of the race. This means that he has won exactly half of the matches that he has played here, a remarkable feat, even though he has never won the title after winning in Hungary. No driver has won the championship after winning the championship since Michael Schumacher in 2004, a trend that the British driver is well placed to win the victory.

But what matters most will be to win the victory against all odds. circuit where Mercedes was waiting to fight. Hamilton and Bottas made a nice breakaway in first and second place, but Vettel cashed a spot Raikkonen bypbaded the outside of the second corner to take third place. Behind them, Verstappen shot well and finished fifth in seventh place in the first round.

Hamilton quickly opened a gap, with three seconds on Bottas in the fourth lap and with Mercedes having achieved their goal of tracking their position ahead of the Ferrari on race control. By pbading exceptionally strong, Bottas was able to bottle Vettel and Raikkonen while Hamilton was five seconds ahead. Ferrari responded to lap 15 and Mercedes responded a lap later, giving Vettel clean air and the opportunity to push Hamilton.

Vettel reduced the gap to 6.5 seconds four laps later, with Vettel, who had started with hard and hard rubber remaining on the outside and leading the race. His intention to go far and try to pbad Hamilton using the fastest ultrasofts at the end of the race.

Fernando Alonso managed to go home in eighth place for McLaren for his 37th birthday. Peter Gasly's Toro Rosso was sixth; Kevin Magnussen in the Haas was seventh, with his teammate Romain Grosjean 10th; Carlos Sainz in the Renault was ninth.
